Many preachers teach that Rosh Hashanah – Monday, September 30, 2019 – could be a Rapture date because the date is not specific. It is based on the Moon, and when it appears is a two day period. Not only that, they teach it relates to a Jewish wedding.. It is a time of repentance and purification. A key component of Rosh Hashanah preparation is to ask for forgiveness from anyone we may have wronged during the previous year. To the greatest extent possible, we want to begin the year with a clean slate – and without anyone harboring a grudge against us. Similarly, we should be quick to forgive those who have wronged us. Many people have the custom of going to the mikveh before Rosh Hashanah after midday. A mikveh, which has the power to purify from certain types of spiritual impurities, can be an important part of the teshuva process.

- OLD TESTAMENT LAWS HARVEST SEASONS OF ANCIENT ISRAEL

- The spring harvest
Various herbs and legumes were harvested in spring, but the most important spring crops were cereals: barley and wheat. A spring ritual took particular note of the cereals: Newly harvested grain could not be eaten until the firstfruits of grain had been offered on the “day after the sabbath” of the Festival of Unleavened Bread (Leviticus 23:9-14). Pentecost, near the end of the grain harvest, included grain and loaf offerings (verses 16-17). Pentecost was also called “the Feast of Harvest” (Exodus 23:16).

Where the climate is warmer, as in the Shephelah and the Jordan Valley, crops mature earlier than in regions where the climate is cool, as in the Judean hill-country and the Galilee” (page 57). In Galilee, for example, part of the grain harvest would be completed after Pentecost, especially in years in which Pentecost came as early as mid-May. Even though all the crop might not be harvested by Pentecost, Pentecost celebrated the entire grain harvest, including the small amount of grain to be harvested shortly after the festival. - The autumn festivals came after the summer harvest, a less-important harvest. But the fall festivals were associated with greater rejoicing (Deuteronomy 16:13-15). Why the theme of rejoicing? The conclusion of a wine harvest is an appropriate time for festivities. But another reason may be that Tabernacles celebrated both the spring harvest and the summer harvest. Note the mention of both grain and grapes in verse 13: “Celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days after you have gathered the produce of your threshing floor and your winepress.

Second Shavuot Tradition:
King David was born and also died on Shavuot. Peter, one of the apostles of Jesus, quotes from Psalm 16 saying:
“Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. Seeing what was ahead, he spoke [in Psalm 16] of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact” (Acts 2:29-32).

If this tradition was in place in the first century, Peter was taking what was on the minds of many people to make his point about the Messiah. This is always the thrust of the New Testament: Jesus is intimately connected with the hopes, dreams and traditions of the Jewish people.

- During this festival when the people thanked God for giving them grain and for giving them His law, the Lord gave the Spirit of life (Acts 2:1-4). Jesus rose from the dead the first day after the Sabbath during Passover (Matthew 28:1-10). The firstfruits offered to God in ancient times anticipated the fuller harvest to come. The resurrection of Jesus anticipates the bodily resurrection of His people first promised under the old covenant (Job 19:25-27) and in the new covenant: “But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep . . . For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive” (I Corinthians 15:20-23). Christ is the firstfruits of those who will be raised from the dead and His resurrection fulfilled the Feast of Firstfruits.

- THE IMPORTANCE OF SHAVUOT FOR CHRISTIANS
- .
- For believers in Yeshua, Shavuot becomes an archetype of what happened seven weeks after the crucifixion and resurrection of Yeshua. Because of the great power displayed in the upper room at Pentecost, some regard this day as celebrating the advent of the Holy Spirit. Yet that was not quite the case. We read in John 20:22 that the risen Christ breathed on each of the disciples and filled them with the Holy Spirit weeks before Pentecost!

The event of Pentecost was the “birthday” of the Church-the welding together of Spirit-filled disciples into one organism-the living body of Christ. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit moved upon each of the disciples to bring about the united story of the Church. Just as the giving of the Law at Sinai formed the constitution of the spiritual commonwealth of Israel, so the visible manifestation of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples signaled the constitution of the spiritual community of faith in Christ. In the first case, Israel was brought together by the law (rules of constitution), in the latter, believers in Christ were bonded together not by rules, but by the Holy Spirit within them.

- GOD’S PLAN FROM PASSOVER TO PENTECOST
- .
- The entire spring religious season of Israel, from Passover to Pentecost, speaks of God’s plan to harvest a holy people for Himself. First, Yeshua died as the perfect, sinless sacrifice. Then, He arose and became the firstfruits from the dead as described by the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:20. Seven weeks after the resurrection, the dynamic manifestation of the Holy Spirit among the early Jewish believers became the catalyst for many to put their faith in God’s Messiah. The Jewish pilgrims at Jerusalem who heard and received the good news of salvation joyfully brought it back to their native lands. There, it was received by Gentiles as well as by other Jews, and the Church became established abroad.

Thus, the inclusion of the Gentiles completed the symbolism of the wave offering, where the High Priest offered two loaves of fine wheat flour baked with leaven. Centuries before it came to pass, the two loaves of the wave offering symbolized the Body of Messiah made up of both Jewish and Gentile believers. Though the loaves were made of fine wheat flour, they contained leaven, a symbol of sin. That speaks of the fact that the Church, though refined (cleansed by the blood of Yeshua’s sacrifice), still retains the human sin nature until that day when She will be presented as the Bride of Christ, without spot or wrinkle.

- HOW WILL YOU CELEBRATE YOUR SALVATION?
- .
- Today, Pentecost should speak to us of the sowing of gospel seed and the harvest or ingathering of saved souls-redeemed people to become part of the Body of Christ. God wants such a harvest from every kindred, tribe and nation. As we celebrate the birthday of the Church, we would do well to contemplate the fact that our primary purpose is to proclaim the gospel. As we, God’s people, remain faithful to this task, the harvest will grow.

- Who Are the 144,000?
Who are the 144,000 in the Bible? What happens to them and where are they from? Are they certain people from the past? Is it only a certain kind of people? There has been much confusion and debate in regard to these individuals, from their identity to the role that they will play in the future Tribulation. Various cults such as the Jehovah Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists and the Mormons have all staked their claim to being associated with this group in some form or fashion. Even some protestant church leaders have claimed that these individuals are church age Christians who are predestined to endure the tribulation. As usual, the safest way to approach the Bible is to let it interpret itself which is the only way to be doctrinally sound in these matters.

These 144,000 individuals are specifically mentioned in Revelations chapter 7 and 14 and alluded to in other passages that we will be referencing as well. They are first mentioned after the first six seals have been opened and poured out on the Earth (Revelations 6) but before the seventh seal is opened (Revelations 8). They show up between these judgments that are pronounced by the Lord on the wicked that inhabit the Earth after the church (new testament believers) have been “called out” to Heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:15 […] o The Lord seals them with a mark in their forehead which distinguishes and protects them from the wrath to come. This is also similar to the mark that the repentant Jews also received in Ezekiel 9:4 when the Lord was preparing judgment against the nation of Israel for their idolatry.
o They are unmarried virgins.
o They first time they make an appearance on this Earth is in the middle of the Tribulation. Therefore, they are not presently in your neighborhood peddling the Watchtower, Book of Mormon or any other man made literature that conflicts and under minds the authority of the Scriptures.
o These men are “sealed” by God as protection from the wrath that is poured out on all of mankind, signified by a mark in their foreheads. It is interesting to note how the original counterfeiter Satan himself also has a distinguishing mark that he uses to seal his followers fate with as well – Revelation 13:16
o These Jewish males are then “caught up” to Heaven before the end of the tribulation where they are continual companions of the Lamb.
